Kathryn Fetterly Social Studies
2010-2011 will be my third year teaching ninth grade Values at Cretin-Derham Hall. In a past career, I was a real estate attorney for twelve years. But after working as a volunteer in the Minneapolis public schools for several years, substitute teaching and leading a Girl Scout troop I knew my calling was to be working with students full time. I have a passion for history, social justice, and world awaremess that I want to bring to the classroom and share with my ninth grade students.
10 Things to know about me:
1. I have a family with a wonderful husband, two teenage daughters and a dog. 2. My favorite place in the world is our cabin on the White Earth Reservation near Park Rapids. 3. I love all types of music but have a soft spot for Led Zeppelin. 4. In my garage I have a pottery wheel and a kiln. Sometimes I feel artistic and throw pots. 5. I help coach the CDH Mock Trial team. 6. I sang in a rock band in college called "The Teachers from Detroit". 7. Every summer my family goes canoeing in the Boundary Waters for a week. 8. On Fridays, sometimes I like to start class with "Friday Dance Day". 9. I love to travel. I've been to every U.S. state except Alaska, Hawaii and Mississippi. This summer I went to France. 10. My favorite thing about Values class is hanging out with my "Breakout Group".
