Science Extra-curricular Activities The science department is home to many exciting clubs and extra-curricular activities. The goal of these programs is aimed at fostering student interest in science, exploring potential science-related careers and having fun in a science oriented environment. The programs offer a variety of ways for students to get involved and they meet at various times during the school year. For more information about individual activities, read the summaries below or contact the advisor(s) for each of these programs. Science Olympiad
What is Science Olympiad? It's about inventing, competing, having fun, making friends and best of all, putting your science knowledge to work!
Students joining Science Olympiad will help form a team of CDH students that will compete at the annual regional tournament and possible State and National tournaments. Competition activities encompass a wide range of science topics such as: experimental design, mouse-trap cars, elevated bridges, forensics and much more! Our team will compete against other Science Olympiad teams from other schools around Minnesota for a chance to earn bronze, silver or gold medals for individual and team efforts.
Interested in joining? Contact one of the Science Olympiad advisors below or listen for meeting times over the announcements...and let the games begin!!
Competition Results for the 2011 - 2012 Season
UWRF Invitational Competition Results Overall, we did okay at the "trial run" competition. Any score marked as "40" means that we received an
arbitrary high score since we did not have any person(s) entered into
that event. The dark, shaded "40" means that the event was a Wisconsin
Science Olympiad event and was not counted into our overall team
standing. The "L"denotes schools that were considered to be "large" and
apart of the division 1 scoring and the "S" denotes schools that were
considered to be "small" and apart of the division 2 scoring. Invitational Results
Bethel Regional Competition Results Our
team finished 16th overall. The top 12 schools advanced to the state
competition. Once school with multiple teams were taken out of the
standings, CDH finished 10th overall. Great job, everyone! Bring on the
Swedish fish--we're going to State!! Regional Results
UST State Competition Results Here
are the results from our state meet. Looks like Fermi Questions and
Experimental design were the two top places. Congratulations on a great
competition season! State Results
